🎒The Traveler mindset.

Let us start with some philosophical stuff before we dive into the practical.

The Traveler mindset embodies a life of perpetual exploration of places, people and ideas accompanied by the minimalist approach of carrying only the essentials with you. It means learning from every person you meet and every experience you gain along the way.

Travel Better, Cheaper, Smarter.

Better for you, better for the planet and community.
Cheaper because why not.
Smart, efficient, happy journeys.

At this point, I almost exclusively shop with travel in mind. Whether it is clothes, shoes, electronics, or even mobile apps. When shopping, I often find myself asking the question, will this purchase fit in my bag or what purpose will it serve when I am on the road. While you do not have to go that far off the deep end, it does help to train your mind to build this mental model.

Have at least part of your wardrobe earmarked for travel. What that means for example:

  • Get shirts with colors that work with multiple pants and vice versa. That way you can minimize the number of pairs you need to pack.
  • Invest in materials like merino wool(yes, they are expensive) which do not need to be washed as often due to their natural odor resistance and moisture wicking abilities.
  • Buy clothes that are weather resistant, can pack compact, and can be used in layers.
  • Basically, when buying anything, think about if it can also serve you when you travel. This way, when it’s time to pack for your next adventure, you have are already half way there and don’t have to start shopping for every trip.

The point of this was to introduce you to the mindset. I will cover travel wear and gear in further detail later.

🗓️ Destination Roadmap

This is a no brainer, but often not done right and sometimes, not done at all. It’s one thing to look at a Instagram reel about an place and think to yourself, ‘Aah, this is on my list’ and quite another to actually physically(or digitally) have one ready.

Travel Roadmap > Wishlist

Unlike a wishlist, a roadmap lets you not only list all your desired destinations, but also lets you put a plan together for how to make it real.

A good travel roadmap starts with your list of desired destinations. Then you add
